Sofas are considered items of luxury and comfort in almost all homes nowadays. They support us and bear our weight but with time they get worn out and you might need to decide whether to restore them or upholster them or just to throw them away.

There are a lot of things you can do if you decide to keep them but before upholstering there are several ways by which you can make them just as brand new. In this article, we will go through some of such points.

SAGGY CUSHIONS:

  • Your cushions and seats will become thinner with time and may sag on use to correct that you can apply a plywood backing to it and the cushions will gain support.
  • If they feel uneven or lumpy you can add filling to make them even whether polyester, foam, or fabric.
  • SOFA COVERS:
  • You can put sofa covers to protect them and also to make them look visually pleasing.
  • You can have them customized in any design you like if you do not wish to keep one with solid colors.
  • There is also an option of dyeing your covers in your preferred colors as tie and dye are getting famous over here you can do that to your fabric cover using fabric dyes or paints and get a new look.

SOFA LEGS:

  • Another thing you can consider when deciding to restore your sofa is to change its frame and legs into a different color or of a different material whichever may suit your needs.
  • Another thing you can do to restore your sofas is to change their decoration by throwing over it a pillow or cushions or a blanket and shawl works the same as well in this regard.

Odor:

  • Sometimes things spill and even on cleaning at once the odor sticks around and makes us all uncomfortable.
  • One of the ways to get rid of that odor is to use a mix of lemon juice and water. You can also use baking powder to clean up your leather sofas and a mix of vinegar, water, and baking soda as well for additional effects.
  • For sofas made up of fabric, baking soda does wonder as it is a natural antibacterial agent, sprinkle it over the sofa and leave it over for an hour or more and dust it away or use a vacuum cleaner to have it all cleaned.

Tears and fixtures:

  • Due to creasing sofas becoming prone to tearing and stretching to overcome this you can use store-bought products to make some stitches and amends.
  • Use a sealant. Curved needle and a strong nylon thread. Apply the sealant on the edge of the tear so that it does not rip further then sew the tear with the strong thread but be careful that it does not make the rip larger.
  • The last option in restoring the furniture would be to go for upholstery or reupholster if you have had that done before. You can have the frame changed, have new designs and installations made just the way you like it.
